Registration Period:
K5 and New Registrations – Ongoing
K4 Registrations – March 7, 2022 to March 11, 2022
- Due to the limited number of spaces in the K4 program, registrations for K4 will be determined by a “lottery system”. All completed registrations received during the week of March 7, 2022 to March 11, 2022 will be assigned a number. After the registration period is over, if we receive more applications than the allocated number of spots, we will hold a lottery to determine the students that will be registered for the K4 program. A wait-list will also be drawn, to be used if one of the allocated spots becomes available before the start of the school year.
To register your child for Kindergarten 2022-2023 he or she must be 4 years of age (K4) or 5 years of age (K5) on or before September 30th, 2022.
Under certain conditions, specified by the Quebec Ministry of Education (M.E.E.S.), students may begin kindergarten or Cycle 1.1 early, through a process called Derogation. The conditions are contained in the Education Act. Click here for more information. Note: Students who are 4 years old on or before September 30th, 2022 can register for K4 in their catchment, however, no derogations are permitted for this grade level.
Step 1:
Use our School Locator to determine your child’s boundary school. To apply for a transfer to another WQSB school, see Cross-Boundary Requests. Please note that Cross-Boundary applications are not accepted for the K4 program.
Step 2:
All students who register to attend an English school in the province of Quebec must be approved for a certificate of eligibility for instruction in English. There are a number of ways to apply for this document. Please select the option below (that applies for your child) to access the forms and list of required documents needed to complete your child’s registration for the 2022-2023 school year.
My child already has a certificate of eligibility: Please select this option if your child has already attended an English school in Quebec.
Form 1 – Short: Used only when a family member (Mother, Father, Brother or Sister) has already been declared eligible for instruction in English in Quebec (attended or attends an English school in Quebec).
Form 1 – Long Application (Code I): Used when a child’s father or mother is a Canadian citizen, and the father or mother received elementary instruction in English in Canada and that instruction constitutes the major part of the elementary instruction received by that parent in Canada (if any instruction was received in English in Quebec see Form 1-Short).
Form 1 – Long Application (Code II): Used when a child’s father or mother is a Canadian citizen, and the child has received or is receiving elementary instruction in English in Canada and that instruction constitutes the major part of the elementary instruction received by the child in Canada (if any instruction was received in English in Quebec see Form 1-Short) .
Form 1 – Long Application (Code III): Used when a child’s father or mother is a Canadian citizen, and the brother or sister of the child has received or is receiving elementary or secondary instruction in English in Canada and that instruction constitutes the major part of the elementary or secondary instruction received by the brother or sister in Canada (if any instruction was received in English in Quebec see Form 1-Short) .
Military or Temporary Stay: Application for an authorization to receive instruction in English under Section 85 of The Charter of the French Language. Note: Only to be used if unable to apply for a permanent certificate of eligibility (options above).
If none of the above options apply, please contact Corinna Abraham by email, cabraham@wqsb.qc.ca, to determine if there is an alternate way to apply for a certificate of eligibility for instruction in English for your child. When contacting the school please include your child’s full name, grade level and a daytime phone number.
