    Good Morning L.A. Community,

    We hope this email finds you well and enjoying the sunshine. We also hope you all enjoyed a well-deserved, relaxing weekend with your family!

    April Calendar 

    April events

    PD Day – April 19, 2024

    • A reminder that April 19, 2024, is a PD Day.
    • There are no classes.
    • Daycare is open for those who registered.

    Recouped PD Day – Power Outage School Closure

    • The School Board and Senior Management team made the decision not to recoup a PD Day for the school closure on April 4, 2024.
    • This decision is across the School Board and all schools affected will not be recouping a PD Day.
    • This decision considers timing, organization and planning of all remaining PD Days.
    • We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
    • Reminder – June 7th is now regular PD Day (recouped) due to the Solar Eclipse.

    Friendship Breakfast

    • DATE CHANGE for Friendship Breakfasts
      • JR Campus – May 9, 2024 @ 8:45am
      • SR Campus – May 10, 2024 @ 8:45am
    • We are asking for the donations to be dropped off day of OR brought in by the students on the day of.
    • If necessary, non-refrigerated items can be dropped off at the school the day before.

    Jump Rope for Heart

    Autism Appreciation @ L.A.

    • On April 17, all L.A. Staff and Students are encouraged to wear read to show their appreciation for the Autistic Community.
    • On this day and everyday – you are seen, you are heard, you are valued, you are cared about.

    Grade 6 Graduation

    • Please see the attached invite. – Click here
    • When: Wednesday June 19th @ 10:00am.  RAIN DATE – June 20, 2024 @ 10:00am.
    • We ask that graduates arrive at school for 9:30am and all guests arrive by 9:45am. 
      • Graduates arriving at the beginning of the school day (8:05am) will join their class as usual.
    • The graduation will be taking place outdoors. Please bring your own lawn chair.
    • After the ceremony, we will have a light reception with all graduates and families. We will have drinks, snacks, and photo booth with props available!
    • The reception will end promptly at 12:00pm.
    • Grade 6 graduates will then have a pizza lunch and dance afterward; this is intended for students only.
    • The school day ends at 2:45pm.

    Grade 6 Grad 2024 Digital Yearbook:

    • A digital yearbook will be created for our graduating students this year!
    • We are asking that each graduate submit a baby photo and send it to their homeroom teacher by May 24th, 2024. With your submission, please include your child’s first and last name.
    • The yearbook will be played for our graduates following the ceremony, and a copy of the video yearbook will be given to each of our graduates!

    Rainbow Club @ JR Campus

    • Starting Thursday, April 18, 2024.
    • Rainbow Clubs are inclusive spaces for elementary students to explore developmentally appropriate 2SLGBTQIA+ related topics. Rainbow Clubs use art, books, games, and other structured activities to encourage students to build on their confidence, self-awareness, and sense of community engagement. At the elementary school level, these clubs address topics like diversity, family, inclusion, identity, and respect.
    • Rainbow Clubs promote a safe, healthy school climate and a strong anti-bullying message. They provide a safe space for all students to foster friendships and build on their self-esteem.

    Music Club @ JR Campus

    • Mr Smith is running a Music Club during lunch! He has his guitar ready and will be singing some classic sing-along songs.
    • Grade 2’s on Tuesdays
    • Grade 1’s on Wednesdays
    • Kindergarten on Thursdays.
    • Get those voices ready to sing and shout!
