Good Morning L.A. Community,
We hope this email finds you well. Great news, the heat has finally broken and the schools have cooled down. We are well into the swing of the new school year and myself and Ms. Patrick are enjoying getting to know each and every one of your children.
We have an important update for you this morning, please see below.
PD Day – September 15, 2023
- Friendly reminder that September 15, 2023 is a PD Day – there are no classes.
- Daycare is open and operating –
- Reminder for parent(s)/guardian(s) for those registered in daycare the deadline to register is today at noon.
- IMPORTANT –
- Frank Robinson will be closed from 9:00am – 3:00pm for Tour de Gatineau bike race.
- Daycare for ALL students will take place at the JR Campus for the day.
- All parent(s)/guardian(s) are to park on rue du Barsac and walk/escort their child(ren) to the main entrance of the JR Campus.
- The same protocol will be in place for pick-up
Welcome Back BBQ
- The Welcome Back BBQ is confirmed and will be September 28th, 2023.
- WHAT – Are you ready to meet your 2023-2024 L.A. Team? Do you like to have fun? Say no more, welcome to our first annual Welcome Back BBQ!
- bouncy castles (free), hotdogs, chips, pop & water.
- WHERE – Lord Aylmer SR Campus, outside
- WHEN – 3:00pm – 6:00pm
Annual General Assembly (AGM)
- Our AGM will take place after the BBQ and will be held on site on September 28th from 6:00pm – 7:00pm.
- The AGM is held to elect the members of our Governing Board for the 2023-2024 school year. **The Governing Board is the governing body of the school which is comprised of parent/guardian representatives and staff representatives. We discuss items such as: budget, fundraisers, school success plans, community events etc.
- We have three positions to fill for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.

- Additionally, we will also elect a Parent Committee representative from the Governing Board members. This representative will sit on a School Board Committee, which meets approximately 5 times a year. Furthermore, information regarding the SEAC (Special Education Advisory Committee) will be shared and the parent/guardian representative of a child with special needs (a child with an IEP) will be nominated to sit on the SEAC committee, which meets approximately 5 times a year.
**If you cannot attend the General Assembly and would like to put your name forth for nomination for the Governing Board or Parent Committee you MUST contact Sam Halpin & Hannah Patrick and share your intent to run for election. You will be required to write a letter stating your intention and the reason why you should be nominated. This letter will be read by at the General Assembly during the appropriate election**

End of Day Changes
- For any and all end of day changes to your child(ren)’s schedule, please contact the front office (Karen Comfort kcomfort@wqsb.qc.ca @ JR Campus and Paula Savescu psavescu@wqsb.qc.ca @ SR Campus) by no later than 1:30pm.
- This will ensure we have appropriate time to inform the classroom teachers and that the end of day change will take affect.
- Of course, we are aware of extenuating circumstances and therefore, if an emergency occurs we will help and support your family in whatever way we can.

- Thank you for your patience as we have started off this new school year.
