Dear Staff, Students, Parents and Guardians:
I am pleased to share two important announcements with you this morning. The first is that Samantha Halpin has been appointed as the new principal at Lord Aylmer School. The second is that Vice-principal Julia Horner will take over as principal of Eardley Elementary School for the upcoming year.
Ms. Halpin was previously a member of the teaching staff at Lord Aylmer School. She went on to work as an English Language Arts consultant at the school board before becoming a principal. Her postings as principal include Buckingham Elementary, Poltimore Elementary and Eardley Elementary. Her knowledge of the Lord Aylmer community and experience leading various school communities will be of great service to the students, staff, and parents/guardians of Lord Aylmer.
Ms. Julia Horner has been a member of the Lord Aylmer school staff for the past 18 years, teaching various grade levels before becoming a resource teacher. It was for the latter that she was recognized with an Outstanding Teacher Award by the Western Quebec School Board She also completed a master’s degree in Education at Ottawa University. She stepped in as vice-principal for several long-term contracts before her official appointment to the position in July 2017. Since that time, Ms. Horner has held several dossiers at the school. This experience and track record will serve her well in her new position at Eardley Elementary School.
The position of vice-principal is being posted and will be filled shortly. The transition for Principal Halpin and Principal Horner will begin as of today.
I want to extend my congratulations to both Ms. Halpin and Ms. Horner on their appointments and know the two school communities in question will be in good hands for years to come.
Respectfully,
Eldon Keon
