Dear Parents/Guardians,
As I’m sure you have heard by now, Premier Legault made an announcement this week, outlining new measures for students in schools. These measures have been dictated by the Provincial Government, Public Health and the Ministry of Education. Below are the new requirements for schools in Quebec.
Face-Coverings
- Kindergarten students do not have to wear face-coverings.
- Cycles 1 and 2 (grades 1-4) will wear a face-covering or mask to enter and exit the building, and in all common areas, including the bus. Students will not wear the facecovering or mask while in the classroom or while outside for recess. They will require a face-covering or mask at drop-off in the morning.
- Cycle 3 (grades 5 and 6) will wear a face-covering or mask at all times while at school and on the bus, with the exception of recess.
Parents are responsible for providing face-coverings. All students will require face-covering upon drop off in the morning. We strongly recommend sending several extra face coverings or masks to allow for them to be changed throughout the day. Though it is only mandatory for students in cycle 3 to wear a face covering or mask, we continue to strongly recommend that all students wear the face-covering while in class as well. Please label all face-coverings and consider sending your child with a way to store his/her face-covering or mask (eg. bag/clip) when not in use. You may also want to send another bag to store the extra face coverings or masks. Please send an extra bag (Ziploc) for your child to store used face coverings / masks.
Daycare
Daycare will continue to operate as it has this year. The only change is for Cycle 3 students who will wear a face-covering as mentioned above.
Ventilation
Windows will be open as much as possible. Please send your child with a labelled sweater to wear in class.
Student Items to Return to School
Please remember to send your child back to school with his/her indoor shoes, 2 water bottles math workbook and any other school materials sent home before Christmas.
Report Cards and Evaluations
Please note that the Ministry of Education has changed the date by which the first term report card will be made available to parents. Report cards will be available to you February 5th at noon. Ministry exams have been cancelled for the end of the year and the weighting for the terms will also be adjusted so that term 2 will have a greater value than term 1. More information will be made available as we receive it.
