    Newsletter #8 – April 2022

    Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we begin the last portion of the school year, I want to remind everyone of the importance of these last three months which are critical for learning and academic success. Regular attendance (except when sick), being on time, having one’s materials, ensuring a good night’s sleep, having a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water and reading daily will go a long way to creating winning conditions for your child. I want to invite you to contact your child’s teacher if your child is experiencing any difficulty academically or socially.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions, concerns or suggestions regarding your child’s educational experience at the school.

    Eldon Keon – Principal

    STUDENT RECOGNITION ASSEMBLY

We held our March Student Recognition Assembly on April 1. The school value on which we focused in March was “Leadership”. Congratulations to all our award winners. The value on which we will focus in April is “Positivity”.

    JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

Get your skipping rope out and spring into action as the weather warms up! In April, students will be learning about heart health in physical education classes and will be encouraged to participate in our online fundraising campaign for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, which begins on Tuesday, April 19. Please check out the website at jumpropeforheart.ca for more information and to donate online. Our fundraising efforts will finish on Tuesday, May 3, and our school-wide event will take place at the end of that week. Thank you for your support!

    PROGRESS REPORTS

Progress reports will be available for parents to access on April 22 through the Mozaik Parent Portal.

    GOVERNING BOARD

The next Lord Aylmer Governing Board meeting will be held virtually on April 20 at 6:30 p.m.

CHANGE IN PD DAY DAYCARE REGISTRATIONS

We have made a change to the registration process for the PD days. We will now send a link to register through Remind. The registration notice will be sent out two weeks before each PD day. Please be sure to sign up for Remind if you have not already done so. You will find detailed instructions on our school website (https://lordaylmer.westernquebec.ca/) on how to sign up for Remind notices. Our next PD day is May 20.

    CROSS-BOUNDARY REQUESTS

If you would like to make a cross-boundary request for the 2022-2023 school year, please fill out the Cross Boundary Application Form 2022-2023 and return it to the School Organization Department by fax at 819 684-9061 or email at cross-boundaries@wqsb.qc.ca. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2022. You will find detailed information about registration and cross-boundary requests on our school website at https://lordaylmer.westernquebec.ca/about/registrations-address-changes/

    PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Parent teacher interviews will be held on April 28. Your child’s teacher will send an invitation if an interview is required. If you would like to schedule an interview, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange an appointment.

    INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PINK

April 13, 2022 marks the International Day of Pink. It is a day where communities across the country, and across the world, can unite in celebrating diversity and raising awareness to stop all forms of bullying. We invite all students to wear pink on this day to show their support and celebrate differences.

    KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATIONS

Registrations for our five-year-old Kindergarten classes are being accepted now and will be ongoing. All registrations are being done via e-mail. No in-person registrations are taking place currently due to COVID-19 restrictions. For detailed step-by-step instructions on how to register, please visit https://lordaylmer.westernquebec.ca/about/registrations-2022-2023/. On the site, you will be able to access all the forms, instructions, and lists of required documents needed to complete the registration.

    SCHOOL FEES

If you have not yet paid your school fees, please visit the parent portal for your statement of account.

    EXTRA CLOTHING

With spring upon us the weather can be unpredictable. Melting snow and rain can result in a very wet school yard. Extra clothing to keep at school is recommended…socks, pants, mitts, etc.
